handicraft: autumn mason jar luminary

i absolutely love handicrafts during the fall and winter months. they add all of those cozy feels to our home and homeschool.

this week we made a beautiful autumn mason jar luminary that i just had to share. i came across a similar project on instagram and decided to make an autumn themed luminary instead.

all you need is a glass mason jar, mod podge, paper cut outs of your choice and a paint brush

i used some of the printable materials that we are using for our apple and autumn unit studies and cut out some of the adorable prints that are on the materials. be sure to lower the percentage size before you print so that your cutouts will fit onto your mason jar.

next have your little paint on some of the mod podge and then stick a cut out onto the glass. two things to be sure of when you're covering this step. one, make sure you are pressing the cut out down so that it's completely adhered to the jar. two, don't let your littles paint the whole jar in mod podge at once, do it in sections as the mod podge dries pretty fast.

when you've added all of your cut outs to your glass jar, have your little paint over all of the cutouts and the entire jar with mod podge. this will seal everything.

once its dry, add a tea light and voila! you have a beautiful autumn luminary!!

happy crafting!
